BC Boerboels Leeta

Leeta is litter mate to Brodie and named after another cousin, hmmm, I wonder if I should have checked with all my relatives before I used their names as ‘helpers’ in naming my four-legged monsters.  Most of my family is very fond of these creatures I have brought in from afar.

Leeta has recently gone to live with a family with 5 kids and lots of love and room, check the bottom picture.  Some very good friends of ours have taken her to their land in the mountains, locally, and she is doing very well.  Apparently she has already had a run-in with a bear(8 months old) and did well.

Leeta is now back with us and doing well here.  She was appraised and did smashing well with a 85.5% SABT.

BC Boerboels Sandy

Sandy, Sandy - what can we say about Sandy.  We named her after my mother.  She is from(can you guess) Sophia and Duke as well, a litter mate to Sierra(Rachel).

Sandy is exceptionally heavy in bone mass, she’s kind of funny actually.  She has markings of her mother, although seems to take after her father in size and temperment.  She is very large, larger than all her brothers at this point,  possibly even her brother Neville  (her piebald brother living with Cody in BC).  At 5 months and 2 weeks I guess her at 75 lbs. I call her horse.

january-066.JPGI’m not sure if the pictures show actually how big she is, she is 120 lbs at 8 months of age, she’s on the extra large size, I hope she fills in with heavy muscle like her father. I would like to breed her to Michaelangelo, he has excellent confirmatiom and seems very correct, we will see when they all grow up and have all their neccessary testing done.

Makosi’s Michaelangelo

This well proportioned, light tanned boy is Michaelangelo.  Yup, you guessed it, I am naming all my males after the Ninja Turtles for a lack of creativity.  It works.  He lives with Rachel (Sierra) and they call him Kody (for Kodiak).  We had Donnatello we were keeping from Bella and Duke, but later decided to place him locally with a nice couple in BC. They renamed him Bosco, also a very fitting name, more on him later, on a different page.

This guy is very laid back and a lover of his food.

He is very well porportioned and also heavy in bone and muscle, we hope for great things to come of him, time will tell.

Makosi’s Raphael

Raphael was appraised at eleven months of age and did very well, we are pleased to announce he scored 89.3 on is SABT appraisal.  His father has now passed away, 92.4% EBBASA and Makosi Dice, 89.7% EBASSA.

Raphael scored 15th place in the world with his SABT and has 80% hips.

Please welcome Raphael from Makosi Boerboel in the Netherlands.

Raphael is a large red boerboel from a completely different bloodline that we have now.  We hope he and his brother Michealangelo turn out nice and will be able to compliment our breeding program here at BC Boerboels.

He is from a first time breeding of Avontuur Anton and Makosi Dice, both very nice boerboels and we’re grateful to Makosi for sending them our way.  Dice is very nicely built and Anton has one of the nicest chests we’ve seen on a boerboel.

Raphael is heavy-boned with a fabulous-outgoing personality and shows a lot of potential.

BC Boerboels Sierra

Meet Sierra

She is much like her mother in temperment, dominant and mischevious.  She is wonderful and alot of fun.

Sierra comes from a Duke and Sophia breeding this year.

She is very well muscled and has a very even mix of both parents in physique.

Northern’s Duke

december1-046.JPGDuke Appraised 12th in the world, in 2008.

Sept 07 - At 18 months of age, Duke weighs in at roughly 165lbs. He’s a big boy alright, and is our pride and joy. A very easy going, laid back individual, not much fazes him… Pennhipped at 9 months, his results were far more than we had hoped for, being in the 90th percentile. He’s sired 3 litters for us, born 2 weeks apart to Sophia (May 07) and Bella (June 07). They were absolutely beautiful puppies, making it hard for us to give them up as most of them were of breeding material. At this point (early Sept) we have one female available still, the rest have gone to wonderful homes all over BC and Alberta. We got Duke from Northern Boerboels, of the first Kloey/M’bumba breeding.

Following are some numbers that document his growth:

110 lbs at 7 months of age, stands 25 inches tall

He’s 137 lbs at 7 1/2 months, doesn’t show any sign of slowing down.  I can still grab hand fulls of skin on this boy.

…143lbs at 8 1/2 months of age…

…He’s now 153, stocky and muscular - about 1 year of age, I don’t think he’s done yet…we’ll see…

…He’s 14 months old - 159 maybe 160 - we’ll see after he’s recovered from breeding with Sophia.

Duke is 165lbs and carries himself around like an athlete( a big one).

 december1-030.JPGdecember1-046.JPG

We just had him penn-hipped, .39 left and .33 right. no djd and no cavitation.

Duke is in the 90th percentile.

We are all very happy about that.

Duke will be appraised this fall in person, 2008

Northern’s Sophia

To view recent footage of Sophia, check out the video gallery… www.bcboerboels.com/photo-gallery

Sept 07 - A wonderfully affectionate and spunky dog, Sophia joined us from Rob & Jen Backstrom of Northern Boerboels (Katie/Sherrif breeding). She instantly wormed her way into the hearts of our children and our family and we have enjoyed watching her grow up over the past year and half. (Hard to believe that she’s the same age as our toddler twins, who will be celebrating their 2nd birthday at the end of November) Extremely muscular and athletic, Sophia is built like a tank… (impressive hind quarters)

Sophia was bred to Duke in March 07 and had her first litter of puppies in May. (She was carrying a whopping 14 pups, although we lost 2 at birth and 2 a few weeks later) She was/is a wonderful mother and went from being spunky young lady to caring mama in an instant. (Something that never ceases to amaze us… that God-given instinct to nurse and nurture) Besides the two beautiful females that we are keeping back to further our kennel, we have placed all of Sophia’s puppies in homes in BC and Alberta. We have been getting rave reviews with pictures from the proud new owners, which warms our hearts everytime. Thanks for keeping in touch! We love receiving all the updates!

Following are some numbers which chart Sophia’s growth:

Sophia stands 23 1/2  inches and weighs 90 lbs at 9 months of age. Just penn-hipped, her left is .52 and her right is .41 with no djd and no cavitation. She is in the 70th percentile.

Sophia appraised at 84.5 SABT.

We will be updating her pictures shortly.

Mouzer Wymond

Wymond came to  us in the summer of 2006 from Eric and Gina Gramlich of Oakview Boerboels. We felt so very fortunate to have him, and he sired a litter of beautiful puppies with Bella (her first) in November ‘06. And then the unimagineable happened - every breeder’s and dog lover’s worst nightmare: After going missing for 2 days we discovered that Wymond had been hit by a moving vehicle while in search of his girlfriend who was in full blown heat. (He took his role of stud very seriously) We were heartbroken, as were our children. Even though it has been several months, we still miss him and have a hard time believing that he is not here anymore. Wymond was one of the nicest dogs we ever knew and we always miss him. Among some of the wonderful pups he produced with Bella are Tug, Kili, Duchess and Samson.

Northern’s Bella

Sept - 07 Bella is our first and oldest Boerboel, which we acquired from Rob & Jen Backstrom of Northern Boerboels at 8 weeks of age in the spring of ‘05. (Shanie / Sherrif breeding) With a very loving and caring personality, she instantly became a part of our family, happily romping with our children, wrestling with Daniel, and playing with any and all dogs in the neighbourhood. An amazing guard dog with a keen instinct, she’s also become a working dog for us, guarding our nearby property (currently under construction). She takes her role very seriously and knows exactly when she is on duty.

Bella had her first litter of puppies in November ‘06 (bred with Wymond) and proved herself as a very loving and caring mother. To this day, she is still thrilled to see some of her locally placed pups, and instantly reverse to mama role again. She had her second litter of puppies in June 07, 8 beautiful dogs that were of exceptional quality. After picking out 2 females to further our kennel with, we placed all but one female in loving homes in Alberta and Bc. Contact us for more information and pictures of the available female, she is a gorgeous and affectionate dog.

Bella stands 25 inches tall and weighs 125 lbs, penn-hipped at 1 year of age.  She s in the 70 percentile with .42 left and .52 right, no cavitation and no djd.

Bella was video appraised before her first litter, she will be properly appraised at a later date, most likely Fall 2008.

Bella has now been spayed, after producing 3 fabulous litters.

We are looking to place Bella with in a lovong home, please contact us for more details.
